ORIGINAL LITTLE LEAGUERS SOUGHT

If you can remember when Petaluma had just four Little League teams, and played games at McNear Park, and you were a player on one of those squads you?re invited to the 50-year celebration of Little League baseball in Petaluma.

Players and coaches from 1957 and 1958, the first year at the new Little League diamond at Kenilworth Park, are welcome to attend. Please bring memories, photographs, and copies of scrapbook stories from that era.

The golden anniversary reunion will be held at Mario & John?s Tavern, Saturday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m.

SAFE BOATING CLASSES OFFERED

The Marin Power & Sail Squadron, a non-profit community group, is offering a tuition-free U.S. Coast Guard-approved safe boating class, ?Boat Smart,? at the Kell Educational Center, 789 North Hamilton Road in Novato on March 13, 14, 20 and 21. Each class runs from 7 to 9 p.m.

PGSA SETS ASSESSMENT DATES

The Petaluma Girls Softball Association will hold assessments for players on Saturdays, Feb. 3 and 10 at Casa Grande High School.

Minor Leaguers whose last names begin with A through M will be on the field from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3. Major Leaguers whose last names begin with A through M will be assessed from noon to 2 p.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 10, girls whose last names begin with N through Z will be assessed, Minor Leaguers from 9 to 11 a.m. and Major Leaguers from noon to 2 p.m.

RENEGADES HOLD SOFTBALL TRYOUTS

Tryouts for the North Bay Renegades 12 and under and 14 and under fast-pitch softball teams will be held Sunday on the junior varsity diamond at Analy High School in Sebastopol.

RACQUETBALL SIGNUPS NOW UNDERWAY

Signups are now underway for the winter and spring session of junior racquetball at the Petaluma Valley Athletic Club.

Classes and competition will start Saturday and continue each Saturday through June 9.

Cost is $20 for PVAC members and $25 for non-members for the entire season.

Signups may be made at the front desk at the Petaluma Valley Athletic Club, 85 Corona Road. A release form must be filled out by all participants at the time of signups.

VALLEY LITTLE LEAGUE HOLDS TRYOUTS

Petaluma Valley Little League will hold tryouts for Little League players in its area Saturday at Murphy Field on the corner of Maria Drive and Park Lane. Late registration will be accepted at the tryouts.

Tryouts for 8- and 9-year-olds will be at 10 a.m.; 11- and 12-year-olds will try out at 2:30 p.m. Little League age is determined by a child?s age as of April 30.

Players must check in at the tryouts regardless of the weather. They are encouraged to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled time.

Tryouts are mandatory for all players 9-12 years of age not on a Major Division team. Tryouts are optional for 8-year-olds.
