Mr. Crandell died suddenly at his Petaluma home on Oct. 11, 2010. He was 72.

A member of a pioneer Sonoma County family, Mr. Crandell graduated from Petaluma High School in 1955. He worked as a hayride operater at Adobe Pumpkin Farm for many years.

A Facebook statement from Adobe Pumpkin Farm on his death read, "An institution at Adobe Pumpkin Farm for many years, his quiet, unassuming nature was really larger than life. He will be sorely missed. The hayride will continue to operate in his memory."

He is survived by his children, Lezley Beyer of Clearlake and Lynda Hogue of Tennessee; sister, Judith Luxton of Campell; and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his former wife, Edna Crandell.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today at Parent-Sorenson Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Petaluma FFA, c/o Petaluma High School, 201 Fair St., Petaluma 94952.
